Ready to get your bank holiday weekend off to the perfect start? Join us next Friday when we’ll be bringing the spirit of Hepple Gin to our boutique Hall for a very special one-off gin tasting event, complete with a luxury 4 course tasting menu.

Pairing two of life’s greatest joys – good drink and good food – our gin-spired event is the perfect way to while away an indulgent evening in excellent company. Hosted in the beautiful setting of The Dining Room at Walwick Hall, the creators of Hepple Gin at Northumberland-based Moorland Spirit Co. will introduce you to their unique spirits, guiding you through tasting notes, production methods and sharing the secret of making the perfect tipple. The exquisite drinks of the evening, which include Hepple Gin, Hepple Sloe and Hawthorn Liqueur and Douglas Fir Vodka, will be paired with a one-off 4 course tasting menu specially created by our award-winning Head Chef.

Introducing Northumberland’s Hepple Estate

Nestled in the remote moors of Northumberland National Park, Hepple Estate remains one of England’s last wild sanctuaries for juniper bushes. With many unique botanicals growing in the wild – the stands of Bog Myrtle by the burns, the Douglas Fir in the woods and the lovage and blackcurrant in the Hepple garden – the Estate is  something of a gin haven.

The Hepple spirits are created using an innovative three-level process for extracting botanical flavours. The heavier flavours are distilled with the grain, the lighter ones are vacuum distilled, and the juniper flavour so unique to Hepple Gin is extracted using carbon dioxide. The result? A clean, fresh, vibrant and intense flavour profile that’s full of zesty citrus and juniper.

In total there are 13 botanicals in their signature Hepple Gin, the first drink of our event – some classic, some unique, and many foraged from the Hepple Estate itself. These include fragrant locally-sourced Douglas fir, blackcurrant leaf, lovage, bog myrtle and – the star of the show – juniper, all working in perfect harmony to give Hepple Gin its distinctive taste.

The second drink we’ll be showcasing is Hepple Sloe and Hawthorn Gin, an unusually, full, intense and dry take on the conventional Sloe Gin. Built for bar professionals and cocktail lovers, flavours have been captured more faithfully than normally possible through their pioneering Triple Technique. Including dry notes of hawthorn and amplified by supercritically extracted juniper from Hepple Estate, this gin is a blast of colour from the Hills of Hepple.

But it’s not just gin the artisan distillery has mastered. Our tasting event will also be introducing their latest addition, their Douglas Fir Vodka, the first launch in a new range of limited edition spirits. Building on the flavours using their pioneering distilling process, the spirit offers an unexpected explosion of refreshing pine, sweet ripe melon and tropical fruit, with undertones of grapefruit zest.

Our Hepple Gin Tasting Event starts at 7:30pm on Friday 24th May 2019 and is priced at just £55 per person, which includes the four-course dinner with matched drinks. We have very limited space remaining so we recommend you book now to avoid disappointment.
