Walwick Hall Country Estate is located near Humshaugh, Hexham on the Old Military Road in Northumberland. It combines a Grade II-listed country house hotel and seven luxury self-catering suites, a purpose-built spa and leisure facility and offers a range of dining options to both residents and non-residents.

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Kitchen Porter to work in our busy kitchen here at Walwick Hall. The successful applicant will be responsible for the cleaning of dishes from the Restaurant, as well as maintaining high-standards of cleanliness across all areas in the kitchen.

Knowledge, experience and skills required:

  • Previous experience within a kitchen is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work under pressure but maintain high standards.
  • Enthusiastic towards work and a team-player.
  • Must be able to work evening and weekend shifts as part of a changing flexible rota.
  • Due to our location and the requirement to work shifts, a driving licence with own transport or access to flexible lifts is essential.

What we offer:

  • Pay from £9.50 an hour dependent on age of applicant.

Part Time Breakfast Chef

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Part Time Breakfast Chef to join our incredible team here at our boutique hotel. The successful applicant will work alongside our Head Chef to manage preparation of hot and cold food for breakfast service to the highest standard, running sections of the kitchen during service, ensuring a consistently high level of food service at all times through knowledge of menu items and awareness of commodities used, preparation, methods and cooking as well as assisting as necessary with stock control and identifying methods for improving food service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working 3 mornings per week, 7.30am – 12noon
  • To prepare, cook and serve breakfast at the required service time and standard
  • Overseeing and organising kitchen stock and ingredients for the morning service
  • Supervising breakfast food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards
  • To ensure the kitchen is maintained in a clean, organised manner ensuring all food safety and health & safety policies and procedures are followed.

Knowledge, experience and skills required:

  • Confidence in leading any section of the kitchen to a high standard
  • Excellent level of cooking
  • Experience in Breakfast Cooking essential
  • Must be able to demonstrate good food production
  • Ability to work under the pressure of a busy kitchen
  • Must be enthusiastic towards work and work well as part of a team

Restaurant / Food & Beverage Manager

We are currently recruiting enthusiastic Restaurant Managers to join our team on a full-time basis. As part of this role, you’ll be responsible for working alongside the General Manager to deliver the Walwick Hall brand to guests. This includes greeting guests, taking orders, having knowledge of the Menu and Wines available for guests to order, amongst other tasks.

  • Experience in a similar role within the hospitality sector is essential.

Junior Sous Chef

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full-time Junior Sous to join our incredible team here at our boutique hotel.

The successful applicant will work alongside our Head Chef and Sous Chef to manage daily kitchen activities.

We are pleased to now offer shared chef accommodation on our stunning 100 acre estate.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the kitchen team in the Head Chef and Sous Chef’s absence.
  • Assisting with the organisation of kitchen stock and ingredients.
  • Assisting with all food preparation and presentation and ensuring quality and restaurant standards are achieved.

Knowledge, experience and skills required:

  • Confidence and experience in leading any section of the kitchen to a high standard.
  • Excellent level of food, hygiene and cooking quality.
  • Ability to work under the pressure in a busy kitchen.
  • Must be enthusiastic towards work and work well as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Eagerness to learn from senior members of the kitchen team to progress into senior roles within the kitchen team.
